SPECIAL NEEDS


Medical

Dorothy L. Bobbitt Health Station - Health Station is open to the traveling public, as well as all Airport employees for illnesses, minor injuries, accidents and any emergencies that may occur. A registered nurse is available daily Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. This Health Station is affiliated with the University of Tennessee.

Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) - Memphis International Airport has 25 AEDs that are connected to the alarm systems and are installed in the three (3) terminals here at the Airport (See Red Hearts on Terminal Directory Map). There are additional AEDs under the control of Airport Staff located in the following areas:

  • Police - Communications
  • Operations - Health Station
Memphis International Airport has an on-Airport Memphis Fire Department ambulance. Also, there are numerous trauma kits located throughout the Airport. Two (2) emergency trailers, fully stocked with medical supplies for mass casualty incident response are also housed on Airport property.

A simulated emergency-type drill is held annually in order to help all Airport employees hone their skills in preparation to assist with any type of emergency involving the Airport and/or surrounding community, such as airplane crashes, etc.


Parenting
All restrooms (Men's & Women's) are equipped with baby changing tables, one restroom has a Nursery with a rocking chair and a baby crib. This restroom is located in the main terminal, close to Backyard Burger. 


Handicapped Access
Parking - There is designated, clearly marked handicapped parking available and there is no charge for handicap parking provided that you have a "hang tag" or appropriately designated license plate.  On the blank side of your parking ticket- please write your "hang tag" handicap permit number, the expiration date, your license plate number, your drivers license number, home telephone number, and your signature.  Please hand it to the person in the booth upon exiting. These parking spaces are located as follows:

  • Lower Level has 28 handicapped spaces in short term only.
  • Ground Level has 18 handicapped spaces in short term only.
  • Upper Level has 8 handicapped spaces in short term only.
  • Handicapped Parking is also available for the traveling public along the passenger drive in arrivals and departures. Upper Level has 3 spaces and Lower Level has 4 spaces.


Elevators - Elevators are located in all three (3) Terminals (A, B and C) as follows:

  • Terminal A - Elevator is located in Delta Baggage Claim area (West side), through double doors.
  • Terminal B - Elevator is located on Main Terminal, Ticket Level, behind Arby's.
  • Terminal B - Elevators are located on both sides of the main terminal.
  • Terminal C - Elevator is located in American Baggage Claim (East side), through single door.

Wheelchairs - Wheelchairs are available by contacting Skycaps through the various Airlines. Skycaps will also assist with luggage and any other packages.

All restrooms are equipped for Handicapped Accessibility.

Telephones accommodating the hearing-impaired (TDD) are located in several areas throughout the Airport. The TDD locations are as follows:
