Plough Boulevard Renamed for Arnold and Mary Lynn Perl

On January 17, 2012, Memphis city officials, including the entire Council and the Mayor, representatives of the Memphis Chamber, business leaders, airport leadership, friends and family gathered in the Council Chambers to honor Arnold Perl and his wife Mary Lynn for their outstanding service to the city by designating Plough Boulevard between Democrat and Winchester Roads in Memphis as “Arnold & Mary Lynn Perl Parkway.”

This portion of Plough Boulevard is particularly significant and meaningful because it is the section of the road that is the gateway to Memphis from the Airport for most visitors, and it is currently undergoing extensive beautification under the leadership of Mr. Perl.

Arnold Perl has served as Chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority for 15 years, and was recently elected to a 4th term.  The official city resolution, sponsored by City Councilman Kemp Conrad and unanimously approved by the Council, highlighted the Perls’ dedication and contributions to the city. more »

Terminal B Checkpoint Transformation Nearing Completion

This spring, the Airport’s Terminal B security checkpoint will unfold into a more passenger-friendly, updated, greatly expanded and visually appealing area.

The security checkpoint will be more than double its previous size and capacity, and will have a much more efficient flow for screening air travelers before their flights.

The addition of an escalator at the concourse exit will provide a new, more direct route to baggage claim B, allowing passengers to avoid congestion in the ticket lobby. more »

Beginning March 25, US Airways will offer three new non-stop flights from Memphis to Washington, D.C.’s downtown Reagan National Airport as part of the first phase of a plan to expand their network and focus on its core service areas.

“These new non-stop flights will be a great enhancement to Memphis travelers’ choices to the D.C. market,” said Memphis Airport President & CEO Larry D. Cox.  “The airline’s service currently requires passengers to connect through its hub in Charlotte, NC.   The additional competition will also give the opportunity for some better fares in this important Memphis market.” more »
