Airport Wins North American Award for Spicing-up Concessions

Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) named Memphis International Airport as the Richard A. Griesbach Award of Excellence winner in the 2006 Airport Concessions Contest.

This award is the highest award an airport can receive for its concession program. Memphis International's Concourse B was selected as "Best Overall" among all airports. In addition, the food and beverage program received a first place award, and the retail specialty program won a second place award. According to one of the award judges, "The essence of Memphis is truly captured in the overall design… I would find it hard to even leave the airport. Great job."

Flight to Amsterdam Full Since Aircraft Changed to Airbus A330

The flight from Memphis to Amsterdam has been full since the aircraft changed to the A330 from the older DC-10 on October 29. The A330 is a more comfortable, spacious plane to travel in than the DC-10 which offered little in the way of passenger amenities and entertainment.

The A330 boasts a new in-flight entertainment system (IFE) which uses the latest in on-board technology, yet is simple to operate. Passengers can select what movies, shows, games and music they want. Movies and shows can be paused, rewound and fast-forwarded at the touch of a button, so passengers get to watch what they want and when they want.
