Airport to Host Minority Business Forum

MEMPHIS, TN (March 31, 2014) – On April 24, the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority and Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) will co-host AMAC’s 30th Anniversary Forum and Gala. The event will provide educational, training and networking opportunities for minority- and women-owned companies interested in doing business with regional airports.
The one-day forum will take place at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis Conference Center, and will feature educational workshops and one-on-one networking opportunities with representatives from regional airports from Indianapolis, Jackson (MS), Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville, St. Louis, and more.
The forum is open to both airport professionals and those interested in doing business with regional airports. Topics will feature training sessions about:
• Doing Business with Airports – representatives from the various airport purchasing, concessions, construction, and contracting areas will be on hand to walk attendees through this process
The day will conclude with a regional networking reception and a celebratory gala honoring Larry Cox with the “Trailblazer” award for leadership and advocacy. Cox retired from the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority on January 2, 2014, after 41 years of service. He will be recognized for being a political advocate and strong supporter of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program.
The 30th Anniversary Gala & Leadership Summit will also celebrate AMAC’s 30th commemorative year as an organization dedicated to promoting the full participation of minority-owned, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises (M/W/DBEs) in airport contracting as well as the inclusion of minorities and women in employment.
